knowledge and belief will be very helpful to many readers. We are immediately send-
ing a copy of it to England since I should think the Student Christian Movement Press
would want it in their text, too.1232 They have just sent a copy of their book, and we are
now considering whether to import sheets or to photograph the British edition or to
set it here. We incline toward the latter choice if it can be worked out economically.
As in the case of WAY TO WISDOM, there are some doubts in our minds as to the ef-
fect on an American audience of using a translation of the German title. As you know,
the English publishers have been calling the book REASON AND ANTI-REASON, but
we wondered if the book couldn’t properly be called THE STRUGGLE FOR MAN’S
MIND with the subtitle of »Reason and Anti-Reason in Our Time«. We believe that
would be a more promising title for this country but of course wouldn’t want to adopt
it without your full consent.
Mr. Donaldson will send you a proposed contract in due course, and we shall all
look forward greatly to the appearance of a second book of yours on our list.1233

Schönen Dank für Ihren Brief vom 18. März. Mit dem von Ihnen gewählten Titel »The
struggle for man’s mind« bin ich einverstanden, weil Sie ihn für angemessen hal-
ten.1234 Dieser Titel ist wohl auch ein wenig anspruchsvoll, aber nicht so anspruchs-
voll wie »way to wisdom«, den ich selber für mein Büchlein nicht gewagt hätte, aber
auf Ihre Verantwortung hin billigte. Sie haben als zugleich vornehmer und realisti-
scher Verlag den Sinn für das Notwendige und das Gehörige.
