Essay „The Great Nation of Futurity“22 kann als eine sich selbst kommentierende,
überaus exemplarische Kostprobe solcher Geisteshaltung gelten.
The far-reaching, the boundless future will be the era of American greatness. In its magnifi-
cent domain of space and time, the nation of many nations is destined to manifest to man-
kind the excellence of divine principles; to estabhsh on earth the noblest temple ever dedi-
cated to the worship of the Most High — the Sacred and theTrue. [...]
Yes, we are the nation of progress [...J.We must onward to the fulfilment of our mission -
to the entire development of the prmciple of our Organization — freedom of conscience, free-

TOP 1: Festlegung der Tagesordnung
Die Tagesordnung wird um die in der Zuwahlkommission besprochenen Zuwahl-
vorschläge ergänzt und in dieser Form angenommen. Das von Prof. Holstein ver-
fasste Protokoll der Sitzung vom 23. Oktober 2009 wird ohne Änderung akzeptiert.
Am 14. November 2009 verstarb Prof. Dr. sc. nat. Dr. E.h. Margot Becke -
Goehrmg. Sie war seit 1977 ordentliches Mitglied der Akademie und die erste Frau,
die die Position des Sekretärs der Mathematisch-naturwissenschaftlichen Klasse
innehatte (1983—1986). Darüber hinaus hat sie sich als Rektorin der Universität
Heidelberg verdient gemacht. Sie setzte sich für das WIN-Kolleg em und rief auch
eine Stiftung für interdisziplinäre Forschung ms Leben. Ein Nachruf für das Jahrbuch
wird von Prof. A. Simon verfasst. Die Mitglieder erheben sich im Gedenken an Frau
Prof. Becke-Goehring
